FOCUS Church is a contemporary, non-denominational church led by Pastor Mike Santiago. We had the pleasure and opportunity to ask their production team some questions on how SmallHD & Teradek products help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Overall how has the church increased its media presence in the past year? (streaming services, Social media, etc.)
We have put a larger emphasis on online advertising, specifically on our social media platforms. We have also added our online stream to multiple platforms with the available technology of our VidiuGo.
What SmallHD products have you incorporated into your workflows at the Church?
We use a variety of monitors every Sunday on all of our cameras to allow our camera operators to see exactly what they need to see.

Equipement used: Sony PXW-X70 + 702 Bright
How important is it to have a simplistic user interface for volunteer workers to easily use?
Simplicity is key when it comes to volunteers. They are giving of their time, so we need to make sure that we are valuing that time by making the learning process as quick and easy as possible.
How have wireless monitor solutions allowed you to achieve the production excellence you desire?
We have been able to add a roaming camera shot to our production each Sunday which gives us great flexibility during our worship experience with creative camera angles.
What does the VidiuGo allow you to do in achieving the multimedia goals in the church?
Because of our VidiuGo, we are able to stream live every Sunday to Facebook and YouTube and reach over 4k people weekly in our online audience alone.

Have you seen engagement in your congregation increase as a result of advancing your production experiences?
We have seen a great increase in our church as a result of the advances we have made in production. With the advances we have made, we’ve been able to provide a consistent experience between what someone experiences online and what they encounter in person.
What size congregation do you currently have?
We average 700 in weekly attendance.
What would you tell another congregation of similar size about increasing your production value?
There is no better investment than into the production of your church. Digital media is not the future, it is the present, and it’s time for the church to be in-tune with the times.
Are there any toolsets in the monitors that you use to help achieve the results you want?
We use the guides on the monitors to give our operators boundaries to keep the subject in so that we aren’t cutting off heads, arms, etc. in our shots.
